Repurposed book illustrations

Hi there!
Hope you are all well. Here's a few cards I made put together by chopping up an old children's book to use the amazing and very "of their time" illustrations. I had a source at hand - namely an old book of my big sister's but I couldn't bring myself to ask if I chop it up - you know, she's never forgiven me for giving her beloved Baby Angel doll a haircut and an eyelash trim 40 years ago! Haha some things will never be forgiven or forgotten so, I ordered the same book from ebay and felt no shame/pain for hacking it up. Lo and behold - some cards! I think they look cute and the random extract of text from the story that goes along with them adds to their charm! Well, I think it does anyway. Quirky is the word I'm looking for here! By the way it's so hard to come by these old book these days. Used to be that you could walk in to any charity shop and were awash with them but now they go off to specialist book/charity shops and are very hard to come by unless you pay a small fortune for them!Hmmm! Anyway I hope you like them!
Thanks for looking!

Home Sweet Home..

As promised - the home decor project I started at the craft club I've been going to. Its made from recycled corrie cardboard/pizza boxes/cereal boxes and covered in beautiful Amy Butler - Belle papers. These PPs were from a 12x12pad from K&Co and I have used them time and again on many projects - the colours really appeal to me but sadly, I'm coming to the end of the pad - there's hardly any left but in a way that makes me feel good because it means I have put them to good use. Isn't it funny - you make an investment in a beautiful pad of paper and you literally cannot bear to take a pair of scissors to it... so instead you flick through it from time to time until the courage comes over you to start using it and once you're 2 or 3 sheets in you get all reckless and just go for it. Next thing is one day when it's just about all gone, you'll wish you still had it. Mad! And I know I'm not the only one!!!
My next post ... recycled illustrations from old books into cute cards! I've done about half a dozen of these and I'm really enjoying the spontaneous cutting up and putting back together again with little bits of text. A bit random but very therapeutic!
Always glad to see you, thanks for popping by

I'm still here...

Hi crafty folks! No, I haven't fallen off the planet or anything - just been super busy round the house and in the garden etc... My OH Leon's back is not good at the moment and it means I have less time for extracurricular stuff if you get what I mean! At least he's got an appointment to see the surgeon that deals with him now but only after having to telephone said surgeon's secretary and question why 4 months on from his MRI scan he's still not heard from him. And you'll never guess what! Someone had "forgotten to put him in the system" (!!!!) so, he could have waited till xmas and still not been seen! Oh well, we've traveled this road before and know that sometimes you've got to put on your "pushy pants" to get what you need from the good old NHS. So, yep I don't have a lot of time/inclination to get crafty at the mo but I've by no means retired completely. I'm finishing a home decor project that I've been playing with on and off and its nearly done so I'll upload that shortly! Also I sold some cards lately and have replenished my craft funds for more new stash! Yay! Yipee! Trouble is my local Hobbycraft is a bit rubbish and I can't find anything to splash the cash on! Can you believe that! Must try harder! Other shops are available! Have a notion to try cutting up an old children's book for the vintage illustrations to use on cards as inspired by Julie Kirk @ notes on paper! I love her style of putting things together and her work is brill! Will let you know how I get on with it all!
Take care everyone and pop back soon for a look at my home decor project.
Love, Jak
